Karlito's Way

About Karlos 'Karlito' Edwards

Karlos ‘Karlito’ Edwards developed his love affair with music during his formative years. Like so many artists before him, his earliest experience of playing and performing was at his local church.
Proficient in guitar, drums and bass from a young age, Karlos was exposed to a lot of different musical styles due to frequent collaborations with his older brothers and cousins – who were founder members of Paradise: a groundbreaking UK Gospel group back in the day.

Artists like: Earth, Wind & Fire, Quincy Jones and Herbie Hancock provided the creative spark that inspired Karlos to pursue a fulltime career in music. Still only twenty years old, Karlos was already touring the world with major artists playing both percussion and drums. Playing for world-class artists over an extended period, allowed Karlos to gain invaluable experience in the art of record-making.

Whilst enjoying a hugely successful career as a session musician, Karlos felt it was time to pay tribute to some of the artists who had inspired him as a teenager. His new album: ‘Karlito’s Way revisits much loved classics from the 80’s but adds a modern perspective – whilst preserving the original character of those wonderful gems.

Karlos has painstakingly replicated the original arrangements (playing nearly all the instruments himself): forgoing the more common (and much easier route of sampling). The use of real strings, brass and other live instruments adds a real sense of authenticity to the whole project and ensures that the original material is fully respected.

The album features performances from the cream of the UK crop including: Omar, Don-E, Paul Johnson, Junior Giscombe and Natalie ‘The Floacist’ Williams.
